I Think every surgeon has their own places to cut. I have one right below the center of my chest that i was told was where they retracted my liver then i have one mid way between my chest and belly button thats my port. Then 3 smaller ones almost in a stright line towards my left side. I sure hope the scars heal well.

My biggest incision is right above my belly botton... The other ones are really small so I'm assuming it's there... Plus I'm getting a strange circular bruise around the insicion so I'm assuming it's right below it...

Though I wonder... How will the port NOT move further back in, in the futur either with the pants pushing in or sitting down or idk...?

Also... Why is there so many different places this port has been put? Does it matter? Is it important!?? If most ppl got it on their side I just winder if it's not dangerous by the belly botton??! Does it shows as u heal and as u lose the weight or does it stay hiding??!

I guess different doctors have different feelings about where the port should be placed. All probably have their pros and cons but I guess it's not for us to know! :P I doubt it's dangerous by the belly button. Mine is on my left side, just below my rib cage. If it's near the BB, my fear would be the waist of my pants possibly rubbing on it, but I'm sure your doc has a reason for placing it there! I think many ports are sewn into the muscle tissue, hence they do not move.

I also have read of many people as they've lost weight, their ports become more visible (less fat padding over top of it). Nothing you can really do for that except wear it as a badge of honour, I guess! :)

Doctors have their own preferences for port placement. I believe the are all anchored to muscle. They cannot just float around in the fat tissue. We all have our reasons for not liking where they are placed. :)

Mine is to the left of my belly button just below my waist when standing. I've found that high-waisted pants with a narrow waistband tend to be uncomfortable. I also don't like pants to be tight around the waist, it can get a bit painful. At nearly 49, I don't so much like tight clothing these days anyway, so no problem.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
