Hi there me too I had my surgery Friday and have been looking for my port... I was also told it would be on the side but for some reason the one above my belly bottom is more soar and there's a bruise showing around the cut in a circular path so I'm assuming this is it...:-/ I can only imagine how painful this will be for filling...

Besides that... How are u feeling?:-) best if luck kn your recovery!!

Some docs put it on the right, so it's not necessarily on the left side....different doctors put them different places. I would suggest looking for your largest incision (unless you had the single incision surgery). It should be around there. I had a big bruise where my port is, so you might have that also. If you can't find it, be happy! I can feel mine under the skin and can only assume it will be fairly visible when I'm thinner, which kind of sucks.

Surgeons vary as to where they locate the port. It sounds as though they did the incision at your belly button, and some ports are located in that area. If you have a longer incision on one side or the other it is most likely there. Some put it around the arm pit, some under the breast along the rib cage.

If it is on your belly and you have significant fat there, it may be hard to feel.

Mine is to the left of my belly button just below waist level.

Once the swelling goes down you'll probably find it....mine is on the left just below my waist line. At first I had no idea where it was. Congrats on the beginning of an exciting journey!

My port is on the right side, biggest incision. That's the most painful thing so far for me....very tender. I haven't had any gas pain, just surgery pain I suppose.

My port is in the center above my belly button. The nurse told me it was the longest incision and it is... So was easy to find but i dont feel it under the skin.

I had the single incision so I'm sure it's around that area as well like right above my belly button Is really swollen and tender maybe thats where he put it also when he came to see me in the hospital he told me my belly button was reaaaaally deep lol so he just went in through there so hopefully my port is barried in there somewhere deep

My biggest incision is right above my belly botton... The other ones are really small so I'm assuming it's there... Plus I'm getting a strange circular bruise around the insicion so I'm assuming it's right below it...

Though I wonder... How will the port NOT move further back in, in the futur either with the pants pushing in or sitting down or idk...?

Also... Why is there so many different places this port has been put? Does it matter? Is it important!?? If most ppl got it on their side I just winder if it's not dangerous by the belly botton??! Does it shows as u heal and as u lose the weight or does it stay hiding??!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
