Hi everyone! I have a couple of questions: I need to purchase a mulitvitamin and Calcium +d. What chewable & gummi brands are tolerable? I was leaning towards Viactiv chocolate chewable Calcium, but read somewhere where they get stale quick. Any advice? I'm not trying to buy Bariactric advantage products, to expensive.

Second question: I brought Gas X strips, but has anyone tried the chewable Gas X, if so was it ok or nasty tasting?

Third question: ( I thought it was only going to be 2 questions) I have to crush up my other medications after surgery, so any suggestions on what to mix them in besides applesauce?

I'm taken Centrum chewable vitamins. They only come in orange but a lot cheaper than the bariatric Vitamins. Did your doctor tell you that you could crush your pills? No one told me to crush mine and I think that they are getting stuck in my chest and that is why my heart burn is so bad. I was talking to my friend and she told me that when her mother was in the nursing home they crushed her meds and would put them in any thing soft, such as pudding, yogurt and Soups and so on.

Thank you for info on Vitamins. Crushing my pills were in the instructions I had received. I had to call my pharmacy to see which pills I can crush.

I am taking the Vitamins and Calcium chewables from BJ's Wholesale they were cheaper, and aren't too bad. The Viactiv chews do go stale so be careful. also don't take both together as your body can only absorb so much calcium so I do the Vitamin in AM and Calcium PM. I was also told to crush my pills after the banding.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
