Should I Be This Tired?

Recommended Posts

I am so so tired- going to bed at 6:30 and waking up at 5:00. That's been 3 nights this week. Has anyone had this experience? Something has to give.....

I am always tired with a capital T! I wake up every morning at 5 too, but don't think I could fall asleep that early. If you are still feeling this way next week, I'd get in and see the dr.

I was told by doctor that body is used to sleeping 7-8 hours , so if you go to sleep early its going to wake up early. She said stay up as late as you can, and you should be getting up a little later and no tv/radio.

It works for me when I remember to turn tv off.

sounds like my 14 yr old!! I envy those that can sleep. I have struggled with staying asleep for a few years now. It has only been the last month that I don't wake up before my alarm goes off at 5.

My energy level is very LOW too; I was banded on 04-09-2012; I keep telling myself that this is considered major surgery and it takes 6 weeks to recover; if it does get better by late May, I will be seeing my doctor. I take the Advantage Bariatric Vitamins but they aren't helping with energy level.

Make sure you take your vits and get in the Protein ....... The fatigue may last awhile even if you are following all the rules. There is a chance you have other things going on that will make the fatigue last longer as well. I don't know how the young gals with toddlers do it ! Those little buggers could wear out even the healthiest person.

My fatigue lasted many months, but I had other things going on. I have fibromyalgia and CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) goes hand-in-hand with fibro.

If you are doing all you should be with the vits and such, getting the proper hours of sleep, and think your fatigue is lasting longer than it should, consider things outside the box and always talk to your doc. I hope it gets better for you soon.

I'm taking 2 Flinstone's chewables every day. I know my bp has been low and have changed the dosage on my meds after seeing my dr.. My diet has completely changed- I'm eating 75 protein/50 carbs average, but only 1000 calories. They said 800-1200. I'm trying to get calories in, but that's the best I can do. This is all so new to me. I am exercising most days- even if it's just walking a couple of miles. I'm following the 'rules.'

I have to get up early to exercise- if I don't, I am too exhausted to do it in the evening. I teach school (2nd grade) and have early morning duty and have to be at the school at 6:30. It makes for a long day. I'll be glad for summer in another month. Maybe that will help.

Your surgeon or PCP can do blood work that checks nutrient levels. Low levels of micronutrients can cause problems. My PCP checks me out yearly. I have come up anemic (long time anemic), B12, and D deficient. Some of the minerals can cause troubles if you are deficient as well, like copper and zinc.

Maybe you need some tests run.

I just had some done, waiting on results.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
