tokiesgirl6 10 Posted May 5, 2012 I am constantly feeling like I have to burp or have something in my chest...Does this mean my band has slipped? I have a feeling like something is in the middle of my chest and I have to make myself burp. I am only 3 weeks pre-op and my band has not been filled. Up until yesterday, I was having severe gas, so I don't know if this is related but I am so afraid of a slip. Also, I have not been eating a great deal because I am afraid getting gas and suffering the pain of the gas again. If this is normal, when does it end. I didn't think recovery took this long! Cocoabean 430 Posted May 5, 2012 Do you mean 3 weeks post-op? Chances are it isn't a slip. Most likely you still have swelling from surgery. Here is some info on slippage: Slippage may be mild and intermittent, or it may be severe and may not resolve. Symptoms are nausea and vomiting and a decrease in the ability to take foods or liquids. http://www.thinnerti...s/slippage.html If something feels wrong, call your surgeon. Cocoabean 430 Posted May 5, 2012 Yes, Post-Op! And thank you. I know I could be partially paranoid as well...I'm a worrier! We've almost all been there! You might try gas-x or gas-x strips. Remember, even though people say this is an easy surgery, it IS surgery on your stomach. It takes time to recover. Walking is really a good way to help get rid of gas. Hope you feel better soon! tokiesgirl6 10 Posted May 5, 2012 If it is gas...I will be so glad when it's done...I cannot imagine having to go through life with this kind of pain all of the time!
Shannon28 26 Posted May 5, 2012 I had my surgery on April 16th and I have the same pain as you. Its not severe or anything but it's very annoying. I get a feeling of needing to burp several times a day but it's almost like it gets stuck halfways and I can't get it out. I was told it's normal and to take Gas X for it. I have no idea how long it lasts but hopefully yours will go away soon!

I cannot sleep, I'm afraid to eat, it is beyond stressful! Thanks
