Well I had my surgery on April 2 and haven't been able to eat anything but cream of chicken Soup after i was able to get in 100 grams of Protein a day. I am down a total of 16 pounds since surgery which I think is remarkable for me. However, since my post op appointment two weeks ago, I have only dropped 3 pounds. There was no Fluid put in my band during the surgery so i just have a band and waiting for my first fill on May 15th. Here comes the bad news, on tonight, because I was sooo hungry, I ate two chicken strips and four fries from Wing Stop and feel like I did something wrong. But the good part is that I am full and will wait the 30 minutes to drink. I know I am suppose to eat healthy and I can't believe I did this to myself. I don't want to hurt my stomach, but I was so hungry.

How did you all deal with the hunger during this time because another week of this and I am going to go crazy!!!!

Don't beat yourself up. I think most people have a slip day. Mine led me to Taco Bell where I had a Mexican pizza and a taco during week 2. I was so discouraged after that and my doctor reminded me that I've lived my life thus far making not so healthy choices. It won't change overnight but, it will change. My weightloss has been slow but steady. I was banded 12/28 and I'm averaging 2 pounds a week, a total of 35 pounds. It may not be much to some but, it's outstanding to me.

Tomorrow is a new day. Get back on track and enjoy the lifelong journey. You'll do well I'm sure.

I agree tomorrow is a new day. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. Fattening foods will always call my name. Just think if it was before the band you would have eaten more than 2 strips and 4 fries.

Just about everyone caves into temptation at some point along the weight loss journey; for me it was with a piece of chocolate cake over the Easter weekend. I got back on track the next day, and have been compliant ever since.

Your weight loss is good for the length of time since getting your band; my doctor says you should average 1-2 pounds a week, which it seems you have exceeded. I do have a question though...100 grams of Protein daily seems too high...My daily protein goal to reach is only 32 grams daily, a number given to me by my dietitian.

I have yet to have my first fill, and there are times that I do get hungry between meals. I use the hunger as my cue to start drinking the fluids I need daily. It does help to stave off the hunger until the next meal. Until I structured my time to include drinking fluids, I had a very difficult time remembering to drink them all. Now, I am meeting both my Fluid goal and protein goal daily without any problems.

This time frame was the hardest for me as well. Seemed to be hungry all the time. Very frustrating. My nutritionist has me doing 60-70 grams of Protein. I have been on a plateau for about 9 weeks (waiting for another fill) and have increased my protein to 100 grams. I saw the scale move yesterday. I was so excited. I'm going to continue with the increased protein, because it helps me get from one 'meal' to another. The higher protein helps me get almost 4 hours before I start to feel hungry again. When I was doing less, I couldn't make it more than 2 1/2 hours and felt like I was grazing all day long. During this time, you have to rely on yourself to "follow the rules". But remember to be patient with yourself. Your habits didn't develop overnight nor will they change that quickly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
