No Ground Beef?

I eat ground beef frequently. Burgers can be more of a problem as they are dry. Fish can also be dry so no I don't think it is the way you are cooking it.

I have problems with beef and pork whether ground or not they keep getting stuck, but fish and poultry are not a problem for me. I have 5cc in my band so far and have lost 52 pounds since Aug. 30th

I don't do well at all with ground beef. Whether in a patty or cooked loose. My first and worst stuck to date (one and the same) was on home cooked ground beef in tacos. It went on for 5 hours. My surgeon's explanation is that ground beef has bunches of gristle and even if cooked loose, we tend to not chew those parts well. It can cause big troubles with bandsters.

I tend to stay away from it now. If I do eat it, the bites are so tiny that I get bored chewing long before I feel satisfied.

I generally do fine with ground turkey or turkey burgers...no Buns though or I am doomed. :)

Ground beef is at the top of my "stuck" list. No matter how long i chew it, it will get stuck.

There isn't much I can't eat. I do have a problem with snow peas, even if I destring them. And I avoid most steaks except for filet mignon at home.

i can eat hamburgers.. i dont have a lot of success with chicken so far. i can eat pork... i cant eat Broad Beans, even if i chew well and spit the skin out. im hoping that i can eat them later on.

Fish is a problem for me but so far ive not tried to cook it in various ways so im going to try again.

have not been banded yet, meet with my surgeon May 24th, ins approved, Psych Eval next week and I'm on my way, woohoo. My question is to all of you above, what is it about fish that you can't eat it? I love fish now, like baked or grilled salmon, tilapia, grouper with lemon pepper and baked or grilled? Is this not feasible for banded patients?

Congrats on starting your journey!!! How exciting for you! I would imagine if it was cooked to dry it would be difficult. Actually, Anything that is dry is difficult! Lol. I personally eat BBQ salmon, cod and misc. sushi. I have no problems but if it is dry I would get stuck. Good luck on your journey!

..as far as my experience goes. it could have been the fish that i bought. im not going to give up on it yet. there are a lot of others here who can eat it and do.

I'm only 5 and a bit weeks post op and have made a couple of mistakes with chicken. I bought 2kgs minced and bagged them into flat palm-sized portions for the freezer. This way they are to hand and defosted/dry fried in minutes. I have eaten shop bough chcken with pata meals and have been a little sick so I need to pay attention to my band.. miced(ground) is good,small diced(but not minced) is not so good.. Also my first(and only) attempt at boiled egg so far resulted in the same sickness even though I chewed, chewed, chewed!!!

My dietician said yesterday that I should try all food varieties now.. ALL. scarey as my handbook says certain things should be after 3months post op. Hope this next stage of trial and error isn't too bad! :)

thanks everyone that informed me on ground beef and fish and clarified for me as I will keep this in mind when I get banded hopefully by June. I look at this as a life long journey. Good luck to everyone on here.

I haven't had any problems with fish at all.

For me, white meat chicken is totally off my menu. Just not worth the effort when it almost always gets stuck no matter now much gravy or sauce is on it, or how small the bites or well chewed.

Fish...I don't like a lot of fish, but I was eating sauteed cod once and commenting to my DH that many people get stuck on fish and I didn't understand why. Jinxed myself. I still don't understand it with fish. The cod was not real dense, and it was cooked in a moist way. I was aware of chewing as we were just speaking of getting stuck on it.

Then add insult to injury, when I urped it up in the restaurant toilet, I got the backsplash in the eye! And I mean it was perfect aim!! That is when I learned that if you put a seat protector on the Water before you hurl, it will stop the plop and splash back.

im definately having the same issues. i cant seem to eat chicken without having problems. no matter how i cook it or what its served with. im noticing that i can eat pork with no difficulty at all, plus lean hamburger mince. fish?? its early days yet. so far not good but im still trying.

I can eat hamburger with no problem. However, my sister has issues every time she tries.

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life.       Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

        Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
