I work for two days an then sleep the next 3 yup really. I am on so many meds now i had to get one of those daily dispencers which is ok but i am only 38. Not old!! Lol just kidding. I am just frustrated today i guess.

Hi Meadowlark - i am on cymbalta 90mg/day. Flexeril 30mg/day Gabapentin 900mg/day besides my reg. chewable daily vit an vitd because i tend to run low. I just feel so old for being young i was dx back in 03 but was dealing with fibro long before then.

I have had to cutback on work an now my pcp thinks i should go on ssdi. I dont know what to do.

I tried to cut out all meds a year ago or so to "cleanse" my system. Well it put me on the couch for 4 days in a wreck i guess i learned.

@rush i am so sorry you are going through ghis so young like i have. Word of advice make sure you have a good support system it truly does help.

So today has been a very sore achey tired day. So much so that my band was tighter too. So i pretty much did mushies today.

Dh wants me to go out of work to go pn ssdi actually my doc had mentioned this some time ago. But i keep fighting it hoping things will get better with weightloss.

Has anyone experienced this. That you felt better once you got to or near a healthy weight?

I also have hypothyroid an suspected Lupus.

Thanks

They suspected Lupus and thyroid problems with me for years, but all the tests always came out fine.

I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia and CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) in 2006. Stress brings it on full blown. My mom died toward the end of 2005 and it was so stressful for me. It caused the fibro to be full blown and I went to a new PCP. It didn't take him long to diagnose and I believe he has the correct diagnosis finally. It sure does explain all the symptoms I had for so many years. I think I've had fibro most of my life including childhood. He put me on cymbalta, Ultram, and a fab med for the fatigue ....... I'll have to think of the name of it and get back with you ........ It worked GREAT!!!! but then my husband's job changed and we no longer had insurance, so I had to stop the meds.

Since then I have been able to control the fibro with stress reduction. I do still have to use some NSAIDS. I know they are contraindicated with the band, but I just take a double does of Jr. Strength liquid ibuprophen. I don't have to take it often because the stress reduction really works like a charm.

I think that Rx for CFS is called Provagil. At the time it was new and very expensive. They may have a generic out now.

The problem now is that with the band taking pills whole is bad and these can not be crushed.

I don't take and Rx meds right now and only take vits. and things in liquid, sublingual, or chewable forms.

I don't exercise. I'm not sure if the fibro & CFS can be part of the reason or not. I do find it much easier to be more active in general with all the excess weight gone. I know the FMS & CFS can be blamed for some of my excess weight gain over the years.

Thank you HB i do take cybalta, flexeril, an now they want me to take gabapentin. But really im tired of taking meds.

I had sleep study done which confirm CFS too but i opted to not take the med for it.

I really really hope some of this will just go away with weight loss.

At least today i am in a better state of mind than i was the past few days.

I have fibro. Waiting to see rheumatologist on May 14th. I can not exercise! I don't like the words can not, but in this case it's true. I've been banded for 9 months and only down 27lbs. Very irritating.

Oh gosh, I am so hoping that this surgery will help with my fibro and chronic fatigue. I am so tired of being tired and achy all of the time.

I was on Effexor for a year and it really did help with the pain. But it elevated my blood pressure and help to add another twenty pounds to my fat A-S. I went off the meds and my pain is back. I just can't believe it. Also I hated the way the anti depressants made me feel in my head. Very vague all of the time and I just could not focus. I didn't feel like me anymore.

Did the surgery help any with your achiness and overall fatigue? It's the main reason that I want this surgery.

Just saw this thread, glad somebody brought it up and hope people continue to check it out. I have fibro too, as well as RA and a handful of other crap (interstitial cystitis, bipolar, gerd, ibs). As for exercise I'd recommend to anyone with fibro to get a referral to a physical therapist. That's how I started, and it helped me slowly get into exercise. My PT has a "bridging program" that allows you continue to use their gym (doing all the exercises they started me on) for a low monthly fee with no contract. There's always PTs and PTAs around for help. The cardio stuff (bike, Nu-Step) actually help the fibro and fatigue. It's just a matter of getting started.. And if I let too much time go by its hard to go again.

I too work (part time) and spend most of my off time "recovering" so exercise is hard. Once I'm there I'm ok.

Someone mention Provigil, my psychiatrist prescribes it for me. Mostly for severe fatigue caused by whatever number of problems I have. It's better than caffeine, and doesn't keep u awake at night. It's helped the fibro fog SO much.

I haven't had surgery yet, and one of my biggest worries is not being able to exercise for a little bit after surgery, cuz like I said, it's hard to go back! ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
