Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am so happy that I found this website. I need all the help I can get. So I had my sugery on 04/12/2012. Before the start of the liquid I was at 340. The day of the surgery I was down to 323. A week after my surgey I went down to 313. As of today I have been eating regular food for a week and i have gained 3 pounds. Is this normal? I have been working out everyday for an hour and only eating three meals and one snack a day. I have not been filled yet. I aam so scared that now I am eating i will be ganing more and more weight. Please tell me that this is normal. I also am not eating sugers, bread, Pasta, rice. Just eatting veggies fruits and protien. Any advice out there.

HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You were just banded a few weeks ago....what do you expect to be different this early??? It can take months and a few adjustments before the band starts to do what it is designed to do.

Ask yourself.....what are you expectations? that's an honets question...I asked myself that same question before I got banded, and came up with a answer. I did not give up until I got what I expected. It took me 5-6 months, but I got it and would not settle for anything else.

You were just banded a couple weeks ago and I'm guessing have little to no restriction. The first month after surgery is for healing, not losing. Be patient with yourself and your body and give your body time to recover from surgery.

My advice would be to make smart food choices but put the scale away for a couple weeks. Once you've had a couple fills and have good restriction, and if you're still making good food choices, you will lose.

Hello laizaone,

I'm getting my surgery tomorrow if all goes well but j have made my researches and if course eventhough there's no 2 ppl the same, the main reasons as of why u might gain a little weight at the beginning is either because of the gym (muscle mass if u are hitting it hard) or because your body needs to adapt!!! Remember you put urself throu almost starvation mode for the pre-op than post with all the liquids diets and everything so compared to ur usual cal intake from before this was a chock to ur body!! Therefor ur body went into starvation mode starting to STOCK every single food and nutrients u would eat because it just would never when would be the next time u'd eat again that nutrient...etc

Now that u are startibg to eat regular again... Ur body is still used to store but more is coming jn now so DONT GIVE UP!!!! the key is to stop ur body to store everything by giving it what it needs so make sure u keep eTibg very healthy things and u will see... It will start going down again!!!;-) DON'T WORRY I HAVE NO DOUBTS ull be fine!:-) just keep percevering and you will see it'll work!!

Keep up the good work and dont get discouraged...we are here for you!! ;-)

Good luck

It's okay. Trust me. First question has your doctor moved you to solids already? I was another week at least on mushies.

Beyond that. Are you weighing your Protein. My doctor said 3 oz of of low fat/cal solid Protein and then low fat/cal veggies until full (digital food scales availble at walmart/target/weight watchers meeting). The band will not help you feel full faster at this point. It took me 6 months of fills to get restriction. I am not saying this to be negative. I am very happy with the band. Instead, I want you to know this is a willpower diet for now.

Also food choices. Be careful not to choose veggies that are high in calories. If you are buying frozen veggies with a sauce (which I do because I don't cook, ever); make sure they have less than 100 cals for a cup. There are a lot of great choices.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
