I'm a week and a half post-op, and my motivation is waining. I bought a recumbent exercise bike tonight at an auction, and I pick it up tomorrow. I am slightly excited about exercising in the privacy of my own home. It's the eating that I am really struggling with.

I keep seeing people who have lost double digit weights since surgery, and I am down 2 pounds. I see my surgeon tomorrow, and I'm worried that he is going to say negative things to me.

What can I do? Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Remember to be patient.

Everyone is different, everyone loses at a different rate.

Just stick with the diet you have been told to follow , do your exercise and you will lose.

A week and a half post-op is a little early to be losing motivation but I can understand that the build up to the surgery and the high of actually having the band is waning. Now on, it's all hard work. Don't just look to the scales for reinforcement and measuring success. Take your body measurements and you will see changes there. Feel your clothes getting loser and Celebrate. Set goals, short, medium and long term and celebrate your successes (non-food celebrations!)

Remember, it took you a long time to get to where you are today, it will take a long time to get back to where you want to be. Focus on taking small steps and suddenly your journey will be flying by.

Best wishes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
