Oh. bless you! It hurts so bad! I had a bout with it less than a year ago. It took time to heal with lots of stretching every morning and night. My doctor had me get special inserts and wear tennis shoes for weeks. I was lucky to not have to wear the boot, use crutches or have surgery. Of course the first remedy was lose weight! This happened during my 6 months supervised diet, so I was limited in how much I could lose without getting denied for my band.

I hope with the weight coming off, that I never have to have an issue with my foot again. I wish you all the best!

At my heaviest, I had it very bad. I had to get arch support inserts for my shoes as well as some foot wrap that had a rubber section at the instep. All this helped as I lost weight. If I were flats too much or flip flops for alot of walking I will have a flare up. But it has never been as bad. I also always were good shoes with good inserts when I work out. It and the weight loss have prevented it from return.

Best wishes, it is so painful but can get much better. Rub your instep daily, wear good shoes, stop wearing flats with little support. All that will help while you are trying to lose weight. The weight loss will help the most.

I am right in there with you..... plantar faciitis really hurts and is really a pain (no pun intended) to get rid of. I had to do many of the same things that mommykristie had to do, but I also went out an purchased something called a "strassburg sock". It was bascially a really long knee sock made out of super tight spandex. There was a nylon strap attached to the toe of the sock that ran up to the knee and looped into a little d-ring. I would put the sock on when I was just sitting around watching TV and crank up the tension on the thing to pull my foot up into something approaching a 45 degree angle with my shin. The thing sort of looked like a torture device, but it sure did help. I think it helped more than anything else that I tried.

Yes, I also have experienced the pain of plantar facitis. Through the past few years, it has resolved on it's own with an exercise my podiatrist advised me to do. I'm certain loosing weight has helped as well...

I was told to get an empty small glass Coke bottle (the kind with the curves in the shape of the bottle), and roll my bare foot on the bottle on carpeting. It stretches the tendons in the bottom of the foot, and it feels amazing!! It did take a few weeks for the pain to resolve, but I no longer have any signs or symptoms of the condition.

I have very high arches & it was getting to the pont where I was afraid I had it right when I got my band in September. I got inserts, etc but it thankfully went away as I lost weight. I am down 76 lbs. I still wear shoes with good arch support but no longer need the inserts. Good luck!

Sojourner's thing with the coke bottle is good, too!! I totally forgot about having done that. It is a similar idea to the sock that I mentioned in my other post. The tendons are the problem, for sure. Stretching them (gently) was a huge part of the solution. The other part, unfortunately, is time.

I had it. I bought a pair of Dansko Professional clogs - they took care of it! Not over night mind you but they are wonderful. I always thought a "soft" shoe would make things feel better - not the case. Dansko's have a hard sole, take a little getting used to and are not cheap. They are however the best investment you can make in footwear! I now have 4 pairs and if I wear other footwear for more than a day or two I can tell a big difference.

Ok so I had heel spurs way.....before I was ever banded...actually they were the worst when I was t my lowest (adult) weight. I had surgery to fix both feet....I am glad to here that wls fixed others, beats the surgery. I would say if you have arch supports continue to wear them.....

I have ZERO arch and horrible plantar fasciitis in both my feet... it didn't ever bother me when I was thin and I developed issues with it when I was over 210lbs. It then sort of "went away" even though I continued to gain, but now that I started as a waitress again it is back with a VENGEANCE. I am hoping that as I continue to lose weight and have now been banded that it will get better and better.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
