Glad to hear you are doing so well! It seems that everyone's post-op diet is different. I have to do clear liquids for 1 day, full liquids for 2-3 days and then mushies. Did the dietician give you a post-op plan?

Congratulations!! Welcome to the other side. My post op diet was clear liquids for 2-3 days then Protein based liquids for a week, then to mushies day 9-21. I'm going back to clear liquids today, hoping that it will calm the spasms in my esophagus down. But most doctors have different post-op diets. It's always best to check with them first before advancing your diet! I was banded 4/27/12. I was 272 when I started this process, 260 on surg. day, and 255 on Monday. And I still have some swelling, so I'm sure it will be more of a loss when it goes down.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes and advice!! Ya'll are right...every post op diet seems to be a little different....even my doc..the nutritionist AND the book they gave me all differ a tiny bit..lol. I'm already tired of sugar free jello....not many choices for a liquid diet. Lol..oh well...it will go by fast. :-). I am so sore i have to sleep in our recliner....hope the discomfort goes quickly....any advice.??

I am completely here to support ya'll....Blessings to all!!..ashley

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
