When Does The "port Pain" Stop?

I am assuming that the pain I feel when I use my stomach muscles on the right side between two of my incisions is the port. That has really been my only pain and while it is getting better, it still rears it's ugliness when I stand too long, stand up, sit down, bend over, etc.

When does this go away? Is this just the pulling on the inside where they sewed the port in place? If it weren't for that I would be feeling great 1 week out after surgery.

My port pain lasted a few weeks if I remember correctly and YES that's exactly how it felt. Like it was pulling where they stitched it place. Usually hurt the most when I was rolling over at night. Like it pulled on it. Now there's no pain. I think it just takes time to heal.

Be kind to yourself.

My doctor said they sewed the "4 corners" (it's round) to the muscle to keep it from moving or flipping over. The pinching and pulling is the muscle being moved and still being sore from being stitched to the port.

That is the only pain I'm feeling now, and it's diminishing day by day. :-)

I am just over a week out and the pain is definitely reducing daily. Still hurts getting in and out of the car or if I bend over or walk too long. Better every day!

I do not handle pain well at all. In fact, I had to stay an extra day in the hospital because of my pain.

Right around one month post-op I realized that the pain was 99.9% gone. The only time I feel it now is if I bend too long or reach too far, and then it's just a little twinge.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
