Surgery Thursday!!!!

Recommended Posts

So my surgery is just over 36 hours away :) On Thursday I will be having brachioplasty with chest wall reduction and lipo...

Just wanted to let people what my lap band doc said about Fluid in my band. My lap band doctor strongly encouraged me to have my band loosened because if I didn't I would be at great risk of aspiration, where the stomach contents come up and go into your lungs, and as you can imagine this would be very bad. Not to mention I need to get more Protein and calories in to heal. So as hard as it was for me to accept I did have 1.5 ml removed today. It was bitter sweet as I hit 120 lbs lost today!

When I told my doc I'd prob be back in a month or two to be tightened back up he told me that if I was maintaining he didn't want me to get a fill as I am so close to goal, 14 lbs away, and my I have lost more than most band patients do and in a short 13 months. Don't know how I feel about that  While I was in the waiting room the ladies chatting next to me, who were recently banded, turned to me and said "You don't look like someone who needs to be here, your so thin!". I was happy to tell them that I had the band and that results like mine are possible ;)

I just had the exact same surgery on Monday with a breast lift! I am so excited for you, you are going to be thrilled! My surgeon didn't require an unfill for me he just told me to make sure and tell anesthesia that I get sick so they pumped me up with anti nausea medication along with the patch behind my ear and some dissolvable tablets for home it worked like a charm. I would try and see if I could go with an unfill but I wouldn't let my weight go up by more then 2 pounds then I would be kicking the door in to get one. Good luck tomorrow it's sooooo worth it!

Today is 11 week after having my TT. They removed all my fill for the very reason you said.... I stayed 8 weeks with out anything in my band. I did get 5cc put back in and i'm still hungry all the time and i can eat anything. I have gained 5lb in the past 11 weeks and i'm not happy at all. So next week i'm going get another 4-5cc put in.... i was at great restriction at 10.... we shall see.

good luck with your surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
