unopadre 0 Posted March 1, 2006 44 yr. old male here. surprised my pcp did not order a pre-op stress test or echocardiogram. he seems satisfied with the ekg. blood pressure is in normal range. should i ask for more? did you have more heart health tests before surgery? Dody 0 Posted March 2, 2006 I think because your EKG is fine there aren't any further tests required. I wish I had the same luck. I had a heart attack some years ago and I've had about 3 EKG's and an echo so they can validate I can have the surgery. Just Thank God it is OK and have a happy journey to Bandland. Anwyn 0 Posted March 2, 2006 I just had the ekg. If you're concerned, talk to you doc about it. He should be able to explain why he didn't order further testing.
pugmum 0 Posted March 2, 2006 I believe only with an abnormal EKG would they refer you for more testing, i.e., an echocardiogram or stress test. That is good news!! Kelli
unopadre 0 Posted March 2, 2006 thanks everyone. just wanted to make sure it was standard operating procedure (no pun intended). i originally planned on bypass surgery, and there was a litany of pre-op tests, but i guess that's because it's a more involved procedure. thanks a lot!
