UGH So today was my best friend's birthday and I ate more than I have since surgery 3/27/12... the most I have eaten in a day since then was probably about 1500 calories UNTIL TODAY. I have been feeling super hungry because I was supposed to get my first fill last week but because my port site incision became infected, they put me on antibiotics and pushed my fill back to this thursday. I am a currently a nanny saving for graduate school and just recently started waitressing again part time... I worked a 7 hour shift on Saturday and a 7 and a half hour shift on Sunday and was exhausted and famished... I checked 3 different calorie calculators and they all said that I burn about 3,330 calories in a 7 hour waitressing shift even going at a slow pace! I knew this must be close to true because I got on the scale today and am 4 pounds down from last tuesday :) SO I figured, what the hell, I'll indulge with my best friend for her birthday! It just got out of control... I ate yogurt in the morning, 2 medium blueberry pancakes with sugar free Syrup for lunch, two HUGE frozen margaritas in the afternoon as well as chips and queso, a huge piece of birthday cake, AND spaghetti with Aurora sauce for dinner. I feel absolutely disgusted with myself and am just lucky I didn't get sick (probably because I have not had a fill yet). I attempted to tally it all up and I probably consumed about 3200 calories today which is atrocious. I am overwhelmed with guilt and the fact that I could actually fit that in my body today without throwing up, but I feel super sick and just icky and bloated over all. SIGH. I know I will get back on track tomorrow no problem and that I am getting a fill on Thursday but I just feel so emotionally and physically awful... eating like that is what got me here in the first place and I have lost 35 pounds since surgery 3/27/12 and never plan on going back! Why did I do that to myself today?!

We are all human and we all make mistakes. So long as you recognise that and make sure you show better self control next time then not too much harm will have been done.

As to the calorie counter, I would be very wary of believing their estimates of how many calories you use or need in a day, they are generally well over estimated.

I agree with elcee dont beat yourself up over a day falling from grace :) and yes if i was to follow what those tables say i can eat i would put on weight.

my only concern is that you may be pinning too much on your 'first fill' many people dont feel any different till they get a few fills in, you may be lucky you may not, so how u get through the next period of time till u start feeling some sort of restriction/satisfaction is going to be up to you. However much you are into a 'green zone' or whatever u call it with your band it wont make the right choices for you .. so u will have to start making them soon otherwise u could end up heavier than u want to be before u start losing ... the band once fully adjusted is a slow and steady weight loss regime which needs, for most, a lot of input from you, so u had your day of treats now its time to knuckle down to the hard work :) good luck with it !

I am going to mimic what everyone else has said. We all have bad days. The important thing is to learn from it and get back on track....immediately. I have bad days from time to time and feel guilty as well, but I forgive myself and move on. Hope you have a better day today :)

Calorie deficits to lose weight usually go on a weekly system ... SOOOOOOO .... if you ate too much yesterday you could workout extra today or tomorrow and really get yourself back on track. Try it out, I'm sure you will do just fine! :)

One day of high calories isn't going to bring you crashing down, it's eating like that every day that will. We all need to cut loose and not care for a day every once in a while! I had an unfil today, having plastic surgery on Thursday, and I treated myself to sushi, had a Las Vegas roll and avacado egg rolls. Did I count the calories?! NOPE! Take a day off every once in a while :)

It's just one day, it's ok. Just get your head in the game again, and get a fesh new outlook tomorrow. There have been a couple times I didn't want the adjustments. Now I realize I could have gone faster, but I'm still accepting this new life. I can now understand why I hesitated on fills...I needed that time to listen to my body when I was hungrier or not satisfied. I don't hesitate so much anymore:)

Don't beat yourself up. Tomorrow is a new day. In my experience, alcohol allows me to eat anything and everything regardless if restriction. I have to be careful when I decide to drink. So occasionally we have to give ourselves a break. :-)

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
