Hello from Louisiana

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I am scheduled for March 23 with Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta. Very excited, very scared. I have been on the Thanksgiving diet (when you feel you can breath again, you eat some more) for a while now. I am so looking forward to a tool to teach me Portion Control. I am so glad I found this site because I have so many questions, and have found so many answers here.

And I do have some questions that I have not asked yet. Are any of the cuts at waistband or bra band? After my laproscopic hysterectomy, it took forever for me to be able to wear jeans again (I wear high waist). Wondered if this was going to be a repeat. Does it help to wear tight clothing, or is it better to wear loose clothing, or does it matter? Where is your port? If you had a choice, would you move it to another location? I have lots more, but that is a starting point.

All of my cuts are right in between my waistband and my bra. My port is to the left of my bellybutton. Wear loose clothing because you'll be swollen and a little sore. So far I wouldn't change a thing!

Hi Teasie,

Welcome to LBT. I'm being banded next Tuesday in Monterrey, Mexico by Dr. Roberto Rumbaut. He says my port will be a few inches above my left hip bone but most of the "scar-share" pictures here show it higher and closer to the middle. Not sure why there's a difference. Good luck to you and don't spend too much time on the "Complications" thread. It gets too scary and you'll need to be coaxed back out from under the bed! lol Best wishes and again, welcome.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
