Hang in there, it will get easier. At one week post op I was so frustrated and in tears because I was starving and not able to really eat anything besides liquids. Im at 7 weeks now, Im still having issues at times, but in the end it will all be worth it. I have to keep telling myself that. When that scale starts moving and you see the pounds falling off, it will motivate you. Take what your able to take with the shakes, small sips, try using a spoon, it will control how much you take in. I used a spoon to train myself to take small sips. It really helped. All liquids were painful going down. Try and find what works for you. The issue I have now is learning to listen to that signal that Im full and stop eating.

Good luck to you!

Maria

I feel you dear. I was feeling the same way 3 days ago, it gets so much better! I cried & moped and carried on until yesterday afternoon when I started feeling better. Just listen to your body and try try try to get fluids down. I was extremely dehydrated and I'm sure that is part of why i felt so lousy.

I had the headaches too, I stopped taking my lortab and switched to regular tylenol because the lortab didn't help the headaches and that was worse than anything else. My mom was getting very upset with me because I was getting so dehydrated but I couldn't help it so I know what you mean.

I hope you start feeling better very soon. It helped me to take a nice shower and get out of the house but that's so hard to do with no energy :-(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
