Burp...I hear you! I am 4 years post op and started to burp all the time. I burb when I'm hungry, stressed, or had food and or coffee too. It last for hours....I'm hoping yours will go away as you heal more. I did not have any burping for years. I think it's time to start journaling all the food I eat as I have noticed that certain food do not cause bloating! Especially super healthy stuff. Like my band won't cause me to burp after avacato citrus salad I started making. Your band may be a vegetarian which mine became :). It just won't tolerate meat! Hope your burping subsides....best to you xox

I was told six weeks post op too.... For foods even as soft as mashed potatoes. I called my doctor and have done tons of research... It seems 4-6. Weeks post op is the general consensus for real food. And you shouldn't be drinking Water with your meal, 30 minutes before, hour after.

I find it so odd that different doctors are telling their patients different things for the exact same surgery.

Must share I just ate egg salad which usually gave me problems but focused on chewing chewing and no burping! Chew more than you think. Have to!

I am following my guidelines pretty closely. I was 3 days early on the beef yes' date=' but this is with Water and everything and has been going on since day one. This isn't the early beef.

Btw- if I hadn't had the beef I would have killed someone and therefore be in jail being fed bologna sandwiches![/quote']

Sorry, but you really should eat what your doctor says and don't rush the stages. It is important to follow directions. You could have had a milkshake or anything else soft. This is not the time to break the routine, it is the time to establish new positive habits. My post-op eating plan was 1 week liquids, 1 week soft foods, then slowly add one solid food per day to my routine. There were specific recommendations for the sequence, I was not allowed raw veggies or salad for 8 weeks.

Please give your body a chance to heal. I always tell anyone struggling with discipline after surgery, this is the time to treat your body like a newborn baby and your mind like an incorrigible teenager...

Everyone's doctor's orders are different. I was on soft solids 7 days out of surgery - per my surgeon.

Me too! My surgeon is William Richards, recognized in US News & Workd Reports as "America's Top Doc" in Bariatric surgery, preformed over 1000 LapBand surgeries, 0 slips, 0 erosions and 0 loss of life during surgery... I did my homework and trust my doc... Wish everyone would stop acting like they are the experts on what I am directed to do! Each person does as they are instructed and don't need do many bystander bodies questioning it because it was different than what they were instructed! Perhaps new information is available and not all the docs have updated yet???

Everyone is different. All doctors have a different view.

In Australia all doctors have different ways of doing things

Two week pre op two week liquid after two week mushie stage then two week of other stuff then 6 weeks after start to slowly have other stuff

Some doctors say three weeks u can be normal eating some say other stuff I can't think of now

If doctors are all different and we are all different listen to your body

Chew chew chew

And slow small

Everyone will have their opinion, don't let ppl piss you off. Do as you are told by your surgeon and/or nutritionist and you will be fine. Everyone is convinced that their surgeons way is THE way when in fact we are all different and each surgeon have their reasons for why they do things the way they do. If we all follow the rules we were given we will see results, bottom line. That's what we all want, right? Positive results. Continue to trust your surgeon, you chose them for a reason.

Wishing you the very best on your journey :)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
