Is it normal for your port spot to feel numb. I have no feeling on that side of my tummy. Has anyone had this issue?

How close is it to any of your incisions? I have had other surgeries and have had areas around my incisions where I lost feeling. They have gotten better over time but I think there is still some loss of sensation. I believe it is normal unless it is a large area and not near an incision.

It sounds normal to me. I know after I had my gallbladder out with an open surgery (scar is over 6" long) I was freaked out about the area below my incision and the fact that I couldn't feel it when I touched it with my fingers. You get used to it, of course at the time you don't want to have to get used to it!

yes the first day I figured maybe they used the same numbing stuff they used when they did my iv but it has lasted 4 days so it kinda worried me like they hit a nerve or something and I've lost feeling forever lol

i havent had issues with my port feeling numb but ive certainly experienced it with other surgeries. There must be nerves that are affected. im sure it will settle for you though.. my knees have areas where there is no feeling. That was knee replacement though and entirely different.

I had 2 other surgeries before this one was a laparoscopy to my lower abdomen and surgery to my lower back never felt numbness so it could be a nerve but if its still numb by the time I see my surgeon I'll definitely inquire

My lower abdomen is almost completely numb after two csections. It still freaks me out, it never goes away, it's completely damaged nerve endings. It will be itchy, i go to scratch and cannot feel a thing. Not sure how common that is with laproscopic surgeries, but it is rather common with open surgeries. Something no one tells you about!

I was about to post about Caesars and see Kerra has beaten me too it. It is because they cut through nerves, it takes a while but the sensation does eventually come back.

My lower abdomen is numb and has been since my surgery. I'm used to it now, so it's not a big deal.
