Recovering From Brachioplasty--Question With Pic

Recommended Posts

Svm10...... Yes 2 weeks is plenty of time for recovery. I had mine done with a chest wall reduction and breast lift last Monday and I already have good range of motion and I feel great a little sore but in another week I'll be at 100 percent.

Thanks vanilla sky. Im more apprehensive about this than the tt because we use our arms alot more. Im afraid I will pop a stitch trying to use the bathroom or something.

Svm10... You won't pop a stitch With small things like that your arms will let you know how far you can move them just like the Tummy Tuck when you start to stand up straight but when u r ready I can give you tips that really helped me out.

Ill put the tips here since I'm on my iPad I'm having trouble messaging.

#1 put anything cooking utensils you use on the counter top like a bowl, plate spoon

#2 put any food u will be eating like crackers, Jello and so on on the counter top make a special place just for your stuff

#3 have a shelf in the fridge waist level cleared just for your stuff

#4 put anything that comes in bigger containers into smaller ones like milk , tea, cokes and put that on your shelf

#5 buy unscented maxi pads to cover your inscisions it's cheaper than gauze squares plus it adds padding

#6 buy button up shirts

#7 be prepared to have feelings of what did I do? The inscisions look bad at first and the bruising is ugly but it WILL get better

#8 wear your compression garment at all times as long as your doctor says or longer

#9 have an alarm clock set for when you take your pain pills and stay on them for at least a full day to stay ahead of the pain of coarse unless your doctor tells you other wise

#10 relax and let others care of you for a few days it will speed up your recovery

I hope this helps please feel free to ask me any questions I also had a Tummy Tuck, breast lift and chest wall reduction

Thank you so much. If I do it, I will be doing it out of town because it is much cheaper. I would be staying with my bachelor brother and my teenage daughter would be assisting me. These are great suggestions. I hope to stay with my brother for a week or so post op before traveling 6 hrs home.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
