Recovering From Brachioplasty--Question With Pic

Recommended Posts

I had a brachioplasty done three weeks ago. I am concerned about the puckering at the incision sites. My doctor says it will go away as my scars smooth out but i'm just feeling down and wanted to know if anyone has had this experience and did it go away?!? If so, how long did it take?

I would think your doctor would know its only been three weeks it takes time to heal.

I would imagine you still have some swelling. When that goes down and your healed the skin "should relax" an not be so taunt

Did they not Lipo your upper arms or is that just swelling. I'm going in for a revision because they need to lipo me.. And take more skin off. No charge though because we're doing it along with my thighs and breast lift.

Looking at your photo again I did not pay attention how your arm was turned. I thought the hump was your upper arm. My mistake.

I don't know if this will help any but..

Here is my pic at 4 weeks post op

And at 11 weeks...

I will say now that my arm scars are my WORST scars of all my Ops - i so wish I had kept that micropore tape on longer (a tip I read somewhere afterwards) If you can keep the tape on longer it flattens the scar out from the compression of the tape - I did this with other Ops and it is true cos those scars are all fine and flat and the arm ones that are now almost two years old - are not fine and as flat... And have stretched a little bit - My Inverted T abdonimoplasty though great - The scar would have been finer and flatter had I known the tape trick back then... (The tip was to keep the micropore paper tape on for ten weeks, it is a pain in the butt - but well worth it in my opinion in another Op I did the tape trick for 12 weeks and that scar is looking better than the able two year old scar, even though it is only 6mths old)

And finally (and I pray these pics show)

April 2012 - Almost two years down the line... Well one year 11mths - LOL

As I said - These are my worst scars... But they are still alot paler and flatter - Just the elbow ends still feel annoying - Even now I massage twice a day to keep them moist and massaged and my PS said to keep massaging till I feel they are feeling normal to me... (I dunno if things will change after two years but - May as well keep going as they don't annoy me as much as the bingo wings did)

Good Luck!

I think you can continue with the tape and compression for months and it helps. You can use any paper tape. I'm not sure about the puckering, seems like that would be smoother, but I'm no expert.

I have tried different paper tapes and found that the one made by micropore was the best as the cheaper brands kept falling off :-) And I think compression is the key - Just depends how long you can put up with it - LOL

I hear ya about the compression. What I liked best was tights. I cut the toes and waist out and wore them like sleeves. I don't like my arms and will be getting a redo in 5 months so I ditched all the follow up care since they're going to open them back up again.

jujuvee, you sound like me....I cut the feet out of the compression stocking they used on me during surgery and put them on my arms so I didn't have to keep wrapping them with ace bandages....my PS was impressed. My arms were done over two years ago. Scars a pale and no puckering. This is the one ps that I wanted done above all others. I am pleased.

Has anyone just had Lipo on the arms instead of the surgery? How was the outcome in relation to a full blown arm tuck?

Thank you.

Diana

How much time is needed for brachioplasty recovery? Is two weeks enough? I'm considering doing it this summer while I have 2-2.5weeks free. I just won't to know if that is enough. With my TT, I went back after about 2.5 weeks to a desk job. Please be totally honest.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
