Ha ha... I can feel the port no matter what now... It sticks out like a damn tumor... ;) I'm seriously considering naming it... :)

There are low profile ports and different port placements that can help hide it.

I can't feel my port unless I put my hand on it.

I can sleep on my stomach or my left side where the port is, doesn't hurt at all. I can feel it but so far is not sticking out like Brad's. lol

My port stuck out in the beginning then after a few weeks settled down.

My port in located just below my breastbone. I can feel it if I press on but other than that I don't notice it.

I have not been banded yet so I'm wondering if you can feel the port when you sleep on your side?

im post op 7 weeks and im not aware of it at all. .. post surgery for the week to ten days out it was a bit sore.. i had a lot of bruising on the site. i cant feel my port with my fingers. Actually, it doesnt register as a foreign object in the body at all. But, ive had two knee replacements and they dont make their presence felt either. It all becomes a natural part of the body after a week or two. If you get any soreness it will be from the muscle as the port is put into the muscle. I wouldnt even know i had one.

Mine is right under my bra line in the middle. It was a little sore sleeping on my stomach for about 2 weeks post op, and I can feel it and there is a little dent where it is. My husband thinks is weriod to feel it so he is kind of freaked out by it. I think it serves as a great reminder of what we have done to help ourselves become more healthy. As well as the scars from the incisions. :)

Mine is on the left side of my abdomen. I am a left side sleeper. It doesn't bother me at all. I can easily feel my port with my fingers, and due to a recent blood infection I have lost 7 lbs (only good thing to come out of it) so now my port can be seen just a bit. I was down 9.5 lbs at my most sick, it was quite evident then.

The Lap-Band brand makes a low profile port, many people switch to that after they've lost their weight.

You should see the look on some peoples faces when they look at it and you say "hey - wanna feel my port?"

Yes, I can feel mine. I believe when I lose more, it will become more visible. It's on my left side; sometimes when I lie on that side I feel a twinge but I just readjust my position and it's better.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
