First Fill And Now Even More Hungry!

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill, which was only .5 CCs, two weeks ago and I feel like I can eat more now than I did before! I have a total of 4.5 CCs now. Has anyone had this problem? I'm very discouraged :(

It is so different for everyone. It just takes time. Make sure you are actually hungry and that it is not just head hunger. No advice really other than stick it out, don't go hungry but eat healthy. Make sure you are eating protien it fills you up and keeps you full longer. For some people it can take a couple of weeks before they notice a difference with a fill. Strange but true.

Hang in there!

I did not get restriction until 10.6 cc's. This will be a will power diet. I wish more doctors were clear about that. Buy a digital scale and measure out 3 oz of solid Protein (or whatever your doctor wants) and then eat low fat/cal veggies until full. You probably really aren't more hungry now than you were. Head hunger is a powerful thing.

Honk is right on. I've had 5 fills and I can still eat too much. Fortunately the band has made me eat less but I still need one more fill. The first 3 fills did virtually nothing for me.

I believe that some of us are so focused on losing weight that we think of food all the time which of course makes us hungry. I know that first 3 months was very difficult for me. I too was very discouraged and sometimes wished I had never had the surgery. But after fill 5 I saw a dramatic difference in restriction which has helped me eat less and drop 8 lbs.

You're probably thinking, "why did I have surgery just to go on another stinking diet that won't work"? It will, give it time and don't be shy to demand a fill sooner than the docs say you can. I've had to be very aggressive with my surgeon's office about getting fills. Sitting around getting depressed can only make it easier for you to consume too much food.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
