You could try half regular, half Decaf and gradually cut it out? Do you have to fully cut it out? I have one to two cups a day of the high test (lol) and I don't plan to stop. I try to drink more Water to accommodate that.

I am addicted to coffee as well and I don't think I can give it up! I gave up my diet cokes and I can't imagine life without any caffeine. Do you know why the doctors prefer we don't drink coffee after being banded?

If you drink too much it can dehydrate you, and being dehydrated = tighter band. Also, you need to drink Water and coffee doesn't count towards that.

I gave up my diet cokes (sad sigh). I drink a lot of iced tea sweetened with splenda. I could never ever give that up!

I drink lots of coffee now two large sugar free vanilla ice coffees a day from McDonald's 120 cals each per fitness pal It's worth it to me but I make sure I drink at least two large smart waters a day too. I was a twelve pack a day soda drinker before yes 12. I quit slowly and had no caffeine for two months then decided to try it again and I started losing wt again? I did get a small full around this time too but the sweet coffee helps no eat other high cal sweets and I drink it slow do it last a long time less Snacks. It works for me???

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
