Reintroducing Myself

Recommended Posts

HI

My name is Amy and I'm 28. I have 6 kids now. I was a member for a short time 2 years ago, before I'd had my last baby and since having him I've ballooned up in weight and now my bmi is 41.5 vs the 36 I was when I was here before. I'm sad about that, but also happy because this means i now qualify for the surgery.

I've called to see when the next seminar is, and I'm so super excited to get this ball rolling.

I'm also a little nervous. My sister said that she knows a lot of people whove had the surgery and they've all gained the weight back, and they have side effects - one gurgles (her stomach) and another burps insessantly. she says a lot of their patients burp a lot.

Do you guys have these side effects? I don't mind the gurgling, but the insessant burping with no remedy might be a little much. I'd rather be healthy and gurgly than fat and not, kwim?

I've also heard of bad acid reflux w/ the lap band and I've heard of it just plum not working for some. I'm sure some of these questions will be answered in the seminar, but I'd love to dive right in here. I'm so excited to see that this board has gone mobile!!!!! I love my iphone! lol

Yes my stomach gurgles which is the same for anyone with gastric surgery, no i dont have reflux or burping unless food is stuck which is rarely .. Its my choice if i chose to put the weight back on, i am in control of what i eat and when, same with anyone who has had gastric surgery. The faster route is a bypass of course but with greater risks from surgery and complications so use the seminar to build up as much info as u can to make an informed decision as to what will be right for you as a busy mum :)

My tummy sometimes gurgles, but not anything too crazy or loud. my burping only occurs after I've eaten, and not really all that often (maybe once a day). Immediately after surgery for about two weeks I did burp A LOT, but that was due to the gas they fill you with.

I did get my first case of the hiccups yesterday, which for some is a warning sign that your pouch is full.

I am 23 and got banded last month. Recovery was pretty quick and painless. Right now I am "dieting" (weighing foods, counting calories, etc) because I am pretty unrestricted and could probably eat anything. I have lost about 35 since a couple weeks pre-op and feel great.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
