I'm so glad I could help. You might want to write down some of your questions before your consult - that way you'll remember them. I know I always seem to forget my questions when I actually sit down with a doctor!

This is where I'm going too. I was put in for a referral, and now I'm just waiting for them to call me to schedule an appointment! I'm excited!

Well I go for my appointment tomorrow so i will definitely let you know how it goes. Just a quick note though, make sure that you call them, they didn't even put me on the wait list for an appointment until after I called them! It only took 3 months for them to call me with an appointment which isn't bad, last year it took them almost 8 months!!!!

Oh! I made my appointment the other day. I called and asked my doctor once i got my letter of referral. I go in June 8th. I think it says my doctor is going to be Dr. Rothchild?

Hi,

Good luck with your consult. Perhaps you've already seen it, but here is our website that explains a little about the procedure:

Thanks,

Dan Weaver

University of Colorado Hospital

unfortunately when i went to meet with Dr. Rothchild he turned me away because of my age. I'm 21, and he basically told me i was too young for the surgery. This week i have my consult with Dr. Michael Snyder, and hopefully things will go better with him.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
