An Angel In Disguise Will Soon Be Revealed.....

Recommended Posts

For too long I have hidden behind an exterior that housed a beautiful, fun-filled, loving woman. Sadly, society's insufficient standard of what a woman should look like has caused men to fictitiously want something that does not exist outside of a video shoot, fashion show and Cosmo magazine. Not all women are a size 2! Hell size 2 women aren't a size 2, they are a size 4 starving themselves to fit into a size 2!!

I digress....hello to all. My name is Denise and I am 49 days away from my surgery date. I am excited about the date (first date I have been excited about in a while if you get my drift!!!) I admit, I have been given the "I'm not ready for a relationship" brush off by men since I gained weight and I can't wait to strut my stuff in front of those same men, post surgery and weight loss, and tell them politely (as I am a Southern Bell of course) to "kiss my grits!"

This Angel in Disguise is ready to once again reveal her inner beauty. An inner beauty that has always been inside but masked by the "weight of the world" so to speak. Don't get me wrong, I am not having the surgery just because I want to date again, however a percentage of the reason I am getting it is because I do feel that my weight hinders on my happiness. For the most part, I am having the surgery to live a healthier life for myself, my children and family.

I joined this site in hopes to meet others who are anticipating the date their lives will change for the better and to get the encouragement and support I need that I choose not to seek from family and friends as I do not wish to let them in on my choice. I have come to the realization that even though some speak of the surgery as a good thing to do, in the same breathe, they also speak negatively of it as well. On LBT, I know I am in the company of those who want the best for themselves as well as other bandsters.

So, good luck to all and I wish you success in your surgery. Admit it, there are some of you that who can't "weight" to show your new size off too, whether it be male or female, best friend or high school hotshots, the guy who brushed you off or the family member that made a weight comment at the last family gathering. Here's to all those who made the comments, and to those same people who will now be left speechless!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
