Clear Liquid From My Incision

Recommended Posts

I'm 8 days post op and I've been having a great post Op so far but today after getting home from my post op appointment I noticed one of my incisions scabs came off and the glue was off from the area also. I just lightly pressed around the incision and some clear liquid (with a hint of red) came out. Every time I push on the area around it more comes out. It's not sore at all so what is this? And of course I noticed it AFTER my post op appointment.

i think that if there is no hard lump underneath, no pain, then it should be o.k. i wouldnt continue to put pressure on it though. it does need to heal over.

i had the same problem a little over a month ago, i called the Dr office they told me to come ASP. I was given antibitics just in case of infection and to help close the incision up. Calll your Dr ASP to get instructions on what to do.

Thank you everyone for the replies. There's no lump or pain, I do have some itching around the incision but I think I will call in the morning to see what I need to do.. the last thing I want is an infection. Thank you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
