Stuck between 35-40 pounds?

Recommended Posts

I have been reading the posts and alot of people seem to be stuck at this weight loss. I am 5 months out from surgery and have lost 38 pounds but most of this was lost at the beginning. I have had my 3rd fill and I do have restriction although at night I can definitely eat more, but I am getting more sensitive to certain foods. Lasst time I had my fill I lost around 5 pounds. This time 2 pounds. My fill was on Jan. 28th. Anyone have anything to tell me???

I had the same experience but I recently started drinking a lot of Water (about 16 ounces prior to each meal) and doing half an hour of walking a day and that's helped.

I was stuck at 32-35 pounds lost for a long time and once I started drinking Water and exercising, the weight has suddenly started to fly off.

Good luck! I hope you find what helps you.

P.S. To make drinking water easier, I purchased on of those cool "Nalgene" water bottles (medical-grade plastic so it doesn't absorb flavors or odors) so my water always tastes great. (www.nalgene-outdoor.com) I got a small, 16 ounce once so it'd be easy to carry with me everywhere and it's not heavy even when full. I fill it up in the morning and drink it down before I let myself have Breakfast, then fill it up again and after waiting about an hour and a half, drink throughout the morning before I have lunch, and then after lunch I fill it up again, wait about an hour and a half again, and drink it till dinner time. Sometimes I'll have some more before bed.

Hey Chris, I can tell you from experience, I was stuck at 35-40 for a good month or two. Holidays didn't help, but that's another story. Anyway, I can't help but stress the GET YOUR PROTIENS IN. After being stuck at that weight for so long, I cut the carbs, totally, and low and behold, weight starting coming right off again. Keep the carbs down, I really think that's the trick.

Another one raising my hand, 32-35 lbs down and stuck. I'm working on getting back to the basics. I also had a fill yesterday which I'm hoping will serve to remind me which way is up with my eating habits.

I am also stuck at just under 40 lbs at 5 months out. I just went on the Nalgene website and bought one of those Water bottles! I have a hard time forcing myself to drink Water, so I'll try that and hopefully it will help. I need to get into a regular workout routine becuase right now my only exercise is going up and down the stairs at work and at school.

I just had my second fill on Feb 6, and I feel like I have good restriction right now because I can't near as much as I used to, but I have to start making the right food choices since I eat so much less. I was good for lunch today, I had all protein! So now I won't be hungry again until late tonight and I won't end up eating again until morning.

I'm hoping that once I do my part the band will do it's part and I'll be skinny in no time!

I DO NOT BELIEVE IN CUTTING CARBS OUT ITS DANGEROUS AND HARD ON YOUR SYSTEM. Atkins DIED OBESE WITH HEART PROBLEMS. CUTTING DOWN ON JUNK AND bread YEAH I SEE THAT , IF YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO EAT BREAD. THAT WAS GONE LAST FILL. SO WAS pizza, ANY SANDWICH OR BURGER OR BURRITO. Bobby,

Bravo to you for all the exercise.

When I referred to cutting back on carbs, I wasn't talking about being a maniac about it. Over the holidays, I was lazy and let myself eat Cookies, candy, etc. Now that I'm back on track, I'm focusing on good, healthy, real food, and avoiding sugary or starchy junk.

Keep up the good work,

Annette

I'm 3 months out, had my first fill on Jan 23, and have lost 22 lbs. I've been exercising (walk away the pounds 4-5x per week) and drinking alot.

I'm feeling a little discouraged. I've really been trying to control the eating, and I am not eating between meals. I do sometimes have a snack in the evening, but if I don't I get terribly hungry in the middle of the night. My doc said to eat about a cup to a cup and a half of food at each meal, and I can definitely do more than that most times, but I try to keep it to a cup and a half.

I know that this is a long haul. But I haven't got what I wanted from the band yet. What I want is for my hunger to be allayed longer and for me to be able to not obsess about food because of that. I've had this experience before, when I was expecting my children and when I've been sick. Perhaps I need more saline in the band.

I don't know. I don't really feel the band is truely a tool for me yet. It feels like I'm still doing this on my own.

Linda, you're doing great! I didn't really have good restriction until fill 3, and I am on fill 4 now which I got in October.

Don't be discouraged - if you can only lose weight by eating 1 1/2 cups of food three times a day, getting a slightly tighter fill will chase the hungries away.

Give yourself credit for what you have accomplished, and know you have control over your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
