Isn't that exactly why you are getting the band. So that you can eat a reduced amount of calories without the same feelings of hunger that you have now?

I suggest u read the nutritional nformation of a MacDonalds it might help u crave them less. They are designed to be addictive and it certainly has worked ... cut them out and look at them as the enemy !

Angie...it gets better...I have been on my pre-op for almost 2 weeks...surgery is scheduled for Thursday. Weekends are so very rough because I have a 3 year old and a husband who has told me that he needs to eat :) At first it was very hard...but I just made a point to start my shakes later in the morning--about 9ish and then the other one about 1ish. I get home and eat about 5 and then I take a walk when my husband is eating his dinner. I had to keep telling myself that this will all be worth it in the end. :)

Be strong and you'll get through. It's only a couple weeks...then you'll be onto the new you.

My first few days I thought the same way- what the heck am I doing? But then I had a serious heart to heart with myself and said "You got yourself into this - you need to get yourself out of it!!" I had pizza dreams and MacDonalds dreams the first few nights and it seemed every time I turned on the TV it was a fast food commercial- your mind is playing tricks on you!! You are stronger than it!! Getting banded was the best thing I ever did! I feel so much better than I did 11 months ago! The support I get from my clinic is great -they are there to help every step of the way. I'm in Canada. My clinic was Thinlife Surgical Weight Loss in Sudbury, ON - -having a strong support system makes a workd of difference!! I'm down 62 pounds and off my blood pressure pills! Stay positive!! All the best!!

It will get easier. I found that it was almost like pushing past hunger into indifference. I managed to cook Easter dinner for everyone without it being too traumatic ( I lost it a little over the scalloped potatoes, but fought my way back). What I found really helpful was to focus on the fact that I really wanted to have the surgery laparoscopically, and if my liver wasn't in fine shape they would switch and make the full incision. The fear of the full incision kept me on the straight and narrow...

weight at start of pre surgery diet - 304/current weight 280/surgery 4/10, Follow up 5/1

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
