Kami76065 19 Posted April 23, 2012 I dont know what I was thinking. I just had my first shake since being banded on the 18th. I only had half of it, but still. I am miserably full. To the extent that if I could vomit I would feel better. Since my band is so new, I am concerned that I will damage it. I don't want to cause myself any problems... Don't want to stretch my pouch. This is terrible. Anyone else do this?
Passionatehrt 15 Posted April 23, 2012 Surely the shake will go through right? Id wait it out. I hope you are okay. You are okay to do Protein Shakes at this point...was it too thick?
SashaWLS 412 Posted April 23, 2012 Hooray, you made your first mistake and survived. I'm sure it's one of a huge stretch of them to come! :-) I'm sure mine is coming right behind yours, and hoping it won't be a painful one!!! How are you doing now? You posted about 45 mins ago, so I assume it has gone down by now but wanted to say I hope you're feeling better.
cfalbro 23 Posted April 23, 2012 You'll be okay. Just ride it out and remember for next time : )
ktsped 42 Posted April 23, 2012 Perhaps you drank it too fast? Have you been able to keep it down?
kll724 3,055 Posted April 23, 2012 i would think you will be okay, but my surgeon recommended Clear Liquids at yoru stage. You are only less than a week out. what did your surgeon's office recommend? Yes, the liquid is probably too thick. also, I was only able to get, maybe, a 1/2 ounce down at a time, due to swelling.Take it easy, and good luck.Karen
Kami76065 19 Posted April 23, 2012 According to my instructions I am on full liquids from 72 hrs out up until my 1week drs visit, which is Wednesday. I am keeping it down, damn it. Its miserable. But I guess I should consider it a painful price to pay for my own stupidity! I know better. I'm not sure when I start mushies, but do think the shake was ok just way too much volume. First lesson......everything you swallow has to be slow and easy.
honk 780 Posted April 24, 2012 I was allowed Protein Shakes from the beginning. You should be fine as long as you don't add fruit to them.
Kami76065 19 Posted April 24, 2012 Oh Lord! No fruit! I dont think I could handle that.
c945105 16 Posted April 24, 2012 Oh Lord! No fruit! I dont think I could handle that. I'm on same as you but only allowed 2 oz per meal. That makes for a two sip shake! Hang in there.

Dee_Climer 1 Posted April 24, 2012 I make mistakes daily. Some are painful, others just emotionally painful. Sometimes I eat something and think "Why did I eat that?". My willpower is just going down hill. I am 22 days post op and already I have come to a stop on my weight loss. Since surgery I have lost a total of 14 pounds and one dress size. I have lost a bit more before surgery. But, I need some will power. Any Ideas?

Your band is doing NOTHING right now but making itself feel at home. As far as will power...that's about all you can do. I never had any...that's why I needed the surgery in the first place. If I had will power I would have been successful at dieting and never been fat!

If I had will power I would have been successful at dieting and never been fat! Totally agree! I am better this morning and at least at this moment trying to remind myself of the mistakes I made yesterday. I am 7 days post op. I only lost 4 pre-op (lack of willpower ) and have lost a little over 9 since surgery. My screw up yesterday was just the first of many, I'm sure. But I was so disappointed in myself. At least this morning I don't hurt as badly. I raise my shake glass to you all in a toast to better choices!
