Ok This Might Sound Stupis But How Can You Tell Between Whats You And Hanging Slkin From Weight Loss?

Recommended Posts

I've lost 52 pounds, my arms look like I have hanging skin which I THINK is from the weight loss but I THOUGHT that you'd only get hanging skin from MAJOR weight loss? Should I start lifting weights to elimate this?

Lifting weights helps tone anything. It will help with lose skin and increase your calorie burn as well. It cannot hurt. I know that when I work out my arms and legs, even with being heavy, the shakiness and hanging gets MUCH better. But I expect lose skin will be a problem for me as well.

I have found some good exercises on Youtube for underarm flab. Is that what you are talking about?

Any weight loss can cause loose skin. Look at a pregnant woman who only gained then lost 30-40lbs, but has a saggy stomach. It all depends on genetics, age, and skin damage.

Bellies in particular, many women already have a lot of loose skin from oregnancies but it is hidden by their obesity.

If youve ever seen a very thin patient with anging skin, its JUST skin. Most people have a lot of fat too, but its those stubborn deposits that wont budge.

But i dont think you can truly judge till youre at goal (not that you shouldnt do something about it before then if uou can/ want to ). I thought i had a real problem with loose skin under my arms and around the bra line and that all went away. I lso thought if i got thin enough my wobbly bottom would have to go but my BMI dipped to 19 and I still had a wobbly and saggy butt.

I started getting the bat wings at around 40 lost. So I am now doing body pump and it has helped a lot. It also depends on age. When you exercise you also need to do weights. :)Weights are what will help with toning.

I got a chuckle out of the "lunch lady arms."

I have heard, but not yet tryed it out myself in recent years that Water arobics is a great way to tone without lifting weights. I have been thinking about doing that, but for some reason I cant find a class with younger under 70 members. I am 41 and dont like seeing those old timers kickin my butt at exercise.

"Bat wings". I love it , I've got those and jelly rolls as my nephew calls them banded 3/5 I'm down 20 lbs. Doing some exercising, love zumba but as everything else I want results now, lift some weights also use ankle weights to build the muscle in my leg, seriously considering doing insanity or p90x....I see so many people with dramatic wt loss and no flab. I came into it with flab what to do I know i didn't get this way over night so I know its gonna take time I just want to be doing the right things to get the desired results.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
