Finally! The waiting time is over. She called this morning to say that I have been cleared by the NP and scheduled my surgery. Although they could do it as early as May 14th, I've elected to wait until I had an already scheduled vacation from work, plus there are few very important events that I need to attend and wanted to avoid any complications from surgery. Scheduled nice and early at 8am, should go home the same day. I am also having my gallbladder removed at the same time d/t some prior complications. I am required to attend a pre-surgery class at the bariatric center two weeks prior.

Now, time to focus on dieting and losing maybe another 10 pounds prior to surgery. I've been eating whatever I want and I've put 5 pounds back on.

Well, I got a call today and the surgery is moved back to June 21st. No biggie, just have to rearrange my schedule a bit.

That leaves me 8 weeks as of this Thursday to really focus on this lifestyle change and get back to those good habits I was developing.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
