I should have been on 2 week pre op diet but opted to calorie count- 1,000-1,200. After the first week my co-ordinator said since I had lost 5lb I could continue. I lost 9lb pre-op altogether. I ate right until 11.30pm the day before surgery( I didn't have to go in until midday).

If you've achieved a decent loss, I wouldn't knock yourself too much. I've only ever heard of 2 people go in for banding and the surgeon stopped the procedure due to the liver being too large/fatty. One of those was through here and the other was through a girl in my support group-the dietician had mentioned it.

Both of these could even be just hearsay. Tried hard from now on and have fluids every hour to help fill you up . Best of luck xx

You know what, to release the symptom of stomach disorders then, you should drink a cup of lemongrass tea. It is quite effective. In reality, the combination of anti-microbial and anti-bacterial effects in lemongrass can inhibit Helicobacter pylori and Escherichia coli. These bacteria are leading causes for some infections in stomach area. Also, consuming lemongrass may help people stay away from gastric ulcers, diarrhea, nausea and stomach aches. So let's try it when your stomach become sick seriously!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
