Not Getting Anywhere Near The Calories I Need.

Recommended Posts

It has only been a couple of days and at this point I know hydration is the most important.

But I am only getting 150+/- calories a day. Anyone else have the same issue?

looking back at my food logs, I only got a couple hundred calories the two days after surgery. On day 3, I was around 600. Are you unable to drink the volume or are you unable to get anything down?

I don't really feel badly, I get full, and haven't been as good about getting the Water down. Prob 20 oz instead of 60/80.

Just not hungry, at all.

I would say set a timer every 15 minutes to prompt you to drink as you need to get that Water in. As for the food, it will come.

Don't worry about not eating enough, your hunger will return so enjoy this boost while you can. It is very important to make sure that you get enough fluids in though, especially after surgery. If you don't you can end up with kidney problems so force yourself to keep drinking even if you are not thirsty. You need to drink enough that your urine is a very pale straw colour.

You need to be drinking! Set a timer as stephy suggested.

You are okay....I was on Clear Liquids for first 7 days or so. If you are really concerned or feeling week try Isopure Protein Drinks (it is considered clear liquid) one bottle has 40g of Protein and 160 calories. You can purchase them at a GNC. I wouldn't worry too much about your calorie intake since you just had your surgery....good luck
