Pureed Foods And Thicker Liquids

Recommended Posts

I was banded on March 12 th, and now in the pureed foods and thicker liquids stage. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can have without actually purée'ing the food? Puréed foods don't sound too good to me.

Wow...it's been over month. Im surprised you are still in the pureed food stage and not in solids yet. I know every doc is different...when are you allowed solids?

I made this and now my husband wont stop asking me for it. when it is done you turn it over and it becomes very mushy :) I realize it may not be the healthiest but I only eat 1 cup of it and nothing more.

Tater Tot Casserole

1 lb ground turkey cooked, seasoned, drained

1 2lb bags tater tots

1 cans cream of mushroom

1 cans evaporated milk

1 cans cream of chicken

Brown meat & place in large cass. dish.

Cover with tater tots. Mix Soup & milk together.

Pour over top. Bake at 350 for 1 Hour.

I got a few jars of that as well. If nothing else a change of taste from shakes. Today is day 6 post op and I feel 100% better. I actually slept through the night. Yipee! Will not over do it today but it sure feels good to not have that intense shoulder gas pain this morning. I see sunshine!

Wow....I said March 12th and I meant April 12th. Oops. And thanks for all of the advice. I will definitely be trying some of these out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
