brlgirl 112 Posted April 20, 2012 I've got a question that i wanted to ask before I forgot. My surgery is next thurs (the 26th) and I know that I'll be nervous/anxious and will forget to ask the dr. I know that I can turn to y'all and get the answer. I have read that after surgery I should have liquid tylenol--great--I a 3 year old so we have plenty of that. My questions are: How about liquid Ibuprofen--is that ok? What is the doseage for an adult? I looked on the package and it only went up to a 94 pound child. I am far from 94 pounds--yet I don't want to not take enought? Thanks everyone. As it gets closer I may have a few more of these questions that I want to ask before I forget. DonnaMP 13 Posted April 20, 2012 I use children's liquid advil all the time. I believe its 100mgs per teaspoon. So for an adult 400mgs is like 2 regular Advil. So...4tsps.
brlgirl 112 Posted April 20, 2012 Thanks so much...I was kinda half afraid that i'd have to drink a bottle.
Waldog 0 Posted April 20, 2012 I've been using liquid ibprofen (generic) 6tsp in between liquid hyrdocodone. I think the purpose of the ibprofen is to reduce swelling.
DonnaMP 13 Posted April 20, 2012 lol I take 600mgs so sometimes it feels like a whole bottle. I KNOW someone is gonna post that you should never take Advil because its an NSAID and not good for you but use your own judgement. Advil in moderation and at the appropriate dosage is no worse for you than Tylenol.
Waldog 0 Posted April 20, 2012 My doctor didn't have a problem with Advil. Tylenol doesn't do anything for my typically so I don't use it ever.
DonnaMP 13 Posted April 20, 2012 Yeah does nothing for me either..can't even tell I've taken anything.
RaleighGal 4 Posted April 20, 2012 They make liquid tylenol for adults...it does not taste that bad and you do not have to take what seems like a whole bottle of the children's stuff. Good luck to you next week!!!

MadcapMama 4 Posted April 20, 2012 My dr does not allow any NSAIDS (ibuprofen, naproxen) ever- they are associated with ulcers, and band failure. I have been getting the adult dosage liquid Tylenol at cvs. Good luck!! weight at start of pre surgery diet - 304/current weight 293/surgery scheduled for April 10! Noturningback15 45 Posted April 20, 2012 where do you find liquid for adults? I looked at Walmart and all i found was the kind for kiddos. They pulled it from Wal-Mart but they still have it at CVS but its the generic brand. I can't tell the difference.
