Proper Restriction

Recommended Posts

I realize it's different for everyone but I'm wondering what foods I should NOT be able to eat and what quantities I shouldn't be able to eat. I do have some restriction but think I need more!! I can eat steak, rice etc and pretty decent quantities although my band is 9cc in an 11cc band.

Also are you generally more full when you have reached the sweet spot? I'm still white knuckling it.

Actually their are no foods we "shouldn't" be able to eat. Some do have problems with certain foods, usually breads, but not everyone does. I have good restriction and can eat anything so long as I take very small bites and chew, chew, chew.

My surgeon says as far as volume, we shouldn't be able to eat more than 1 cup of food total. Most are able to eat about 1/2-1 cup per meal and should be able to go at least 4 hours before being hungry again. Most days I can't eat a full cup, more like 2/3-3/4.

As Mis stated, that's the amount, and you should techinically be able to eat everything. HOwever, many people have issues with some foods. So just because you can eat steak doesn't mean anything is wrong (You are lucky IMO because that's a food I have issues with!). At your sweet spot you should find these minimal amounts of food keep you full for several hours. So if that's not the case, then you may need another fill (although your levels seems very high to me, but I can't seem to get above 5 cc in a 10 cc band). I hope you can find a level that works for you!

I agree, I can eat any type of food; with the exception of dry meats. If you do not have the proper restrictions, you should consider looking at your food choices - bread, french fries, rice, sweets are really high in calories. I only "treat" myself with those types of foods. - I currently have 5.3 cc in 10 cc band.

I don't eat anything junkie except on rare occasion. I don't even indulge in bread. Mainly Protein veggies and fruit. I'm losing (slowly-which is fine) but I'm struggling like I don't have the band. It does stop me when I eat solid protein. I can eat vegetables and fruit in extra large quantities. Is everything other than protein a slider??? Bc if I judge by a cup of strawberries I am def not at the sweet spot

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
