Green Zone Description

Recommended Posts

I know what the "green zone" is, but can you guys share your personal experiences of what it is and how it feels. I just received my 3rd fill and I sort of feel full (but not really) so I wanted to know if thats it. Or is it a lot more restricted than that. Like 2 bites and you're full. I don't quite feel that way. I can eat half a sandwich and a small salad and feel full. Is that still much for people who are in the green zone?

I'm basically asking what people's personal experiences of being in the green zone are.

What you are eating sounds great. If you could only eat 2 bites then you would not be able to meet your daily nutritional requirements and you would also probably get hungry again fairly quickly. You will never feel full the way you did before your band. You should be able to eat a wide variety of healthy foods.

For me I just ate less than before and didn't get hungry as quickly.I had to chew more and make sure I didn't eat too quickly but that was it.I could eat most foods although some gave me trouble. And I was losing weight without a heck of a lot of effort.

I can eat half salad and half sandwich and feel full .... BUT I'm hungry 2 hrs later. I've only had 1 fill and believe I need a few more to reach the green zone. Ive been told you shouldnt be hungry that soon, and the green zone allows you to feel full for 4 hrs between meals without the need to snack.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
