The pre-surgery diet can be a nightmare, but think of it as your first real step in the next chapter of your life. After surgery, you're going to be stuck on almost the same strict diet, but all the hard work and emotional anxiety will be worth the outcome. I'm not sure if your Dr. allows it, but I would drink a large glass of iced Water and suck on an organic lolli-pop to help cravings. It's a nice sweet treat and for it me it got the job done.

PLEASE DON'T EAT BREAD...IT IS FILED WITH CARB AND WHITE FLOUR.

IF YOIU ARE HUNGRY DRINK Water. SUCK OF sugar free POPS...YOU ARE ALMOST THERE DON'T STOP...THINK ABOUT THE SIZES OF THE CLOTHES IN YOUR CLOSET BEING SIZE M AND LARGE...YOU CAN DO IT. THINK OF THE GREAT THING AND CHANGES YOU WILL BE MAKING. THINK POSSITIVE..YOU CAN DO IT....

Thanks for the words of encouragement!

I'm now on day 10 of my 14 day pre-op diet. Going for surgery on the 24th!

Oddly enough, i had a 1.5hr workout this morning and i've been fine all day. Actually, i had trouble getting the 3rd shake down today. I also got on the scale this morning.. 17 lbs down! BAM!

Can't wait to get banded!

wtg Danya on the 17 lbs. This is my second day of my 1 week pre-op liquid diet, and i too did a workout with the personal trainer today..was only 30 mins (she was worried id get light headed but i felt fine) and today was a better day than yesterday...i wonder if the workout somehow helps or if its just a coincidence..i wont be working out tomorrow..so if its a rough day again, then we will find out. Stay strong!

Thanks! i'm super pumped! Were you provided with a trainer? And if so, what kind of workouts do you do? I'm mainly asking cause I'm 100% focused on working out every day before my surgery as well as when i'm feeling normal again after the surgery. I'm deathly afraid of saggy skin!

Keep going. These are just the days that you have the pre op diet.. Keep up the possitive attitudes, exercise and you will be very sucessfull.

I truly want the best for you all. Be strong...If I can do it. So can you...............................

I am so anxious to hear all your accomplishment.....

I want you all to know that I am so happy for all of you. I have been reading about post op patiient that are having bouts of Constipation... Please take heed. The pain pills that they give you will do this. Also drink alot of Water. After surgery you will have very little in your body and you very well might get it also. Prune juice will be good since you will be on a liquid diet first, and then mushie stuff.

Please do not think this is a joke cause it is not. Ilene

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
