9 Days Pre-Op Diet And Starving!

Recommended Posts

Thanks! i'm super pumped! Were you provided with a trainer? And if so, what kind of workouts do you do? I'm mainly asking cause I'm 100% focused on working out every day before my surgery as well as when i'm feeling normal again after the surgery. I'm deathly afraid of saggy skin!

I wasnt provided with a trainer...I had to get one myself through my gym ... I really cant afford it, but i figured if i worked with her once a week for two months prior to banding..i would get enough info and guidance and workouts to followw, that i can keep going once im healed.

I have only used 5 iof the 8 sessions i purchased, and will get a note from surgeon on tuesday to "freeze" my workouts..this way i wont get charged again til i come back to it...so this will give me 3 workouts with her after my surgery..to help get me back into that routine.

I have a very high Body fat % so she was focusing on stuff that would do cardio and strenght at the same time. The first 2 sessions were just cardio..so when i went on my own during those two wks, i didnt lose anything...then when she showed me stuff with the strength added into the cardio..after 2 wks i started to lose....so it seems that the exercises that do both..are most beneficial..for me anyway.

a few examples of what she has me do...starts me out with steps (usually two levels high if using actual steppers) we do that for 1 min..then has me do two taps on what i call a "half palate ball" lol, where it sits flat on the floor. this starts my heart rate increase..then she has me hold a medicine ball or weight stick (about 9 lbs) and i sit down then stand up..each of these things are 1 min length. Then 9 lb medicine ball again, lifting diaginally upward to the right 10 times, then to the left 10 times.

We do this routine 4 times in a session...then for added cardio..i asked her to add boxing in (she is training to be a boxer) and i love boxing so we spend about 10 mins doing that.

She does change up the above routine with a few other exercises..but this is the one i do most often when i go by myself.

hope this helps..and good luck.

ok sweet. i wasn't given a trainer either.. i kind of just do my own thing.

today i ran for 15 mins, jumped rope for 5 (harder than it sounds, lol), did yoga and some light weights to tone my arms.

i'm really starting to get addicted to this whole getting into shape thing.. turns out it does actually make you feel more energetic! ha.

Anyways, lost another pound today.. 18lbs down! 3 more days till surgery! SO EXCITED TO GET BANDED!!

When do you go in?

After the band you all might have a problem with chicken getting stuck. It usually is dry so some of us use mayo. (i do) But all food must be pulverized. After you have sufficient restriction that food will stay in the pouch and slowly it come out. You should be able to wait at least 4 hours until next meal. Fish is easier to chew and pulverize. Rember to plan on eating until you are satisfied not FULL. This lapband is not about stuffing yourself. It is about eating less and being happy with less food. And mostly doing it right and following the rules. No bread ugh. No soda bad. Anyone who needs me for help I can be reached at lizybird@aol.com..... also on sparkpeople.com lapband surgery group. I am coleader Name is missilene. you will have fun with recipes and exercises and learn so much about every thing. and find lots of friends with lapband.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
