Don't Know If I Am Hungry Or Not....

Recommended Posts

Had my iband surgery today. Got @3:00 +/- and I nurse about 1/4 c of Water. About 8:30 tonight had half of an orange Popsicle. I have a little headache, really just groggy after pain meds.

Feeling empty and want something but not sure if I should. I don't really feel hungry, just empty.

I had my surgery Monday and I wasn't too hungry at all until today. I was very bloated so I guess thats why. I know what you mean by the "empty" feeling. I didn't really feel like eating for the first two days but woke up extremely hungry and ready to eat today. Congrats on being banded and I wish you lots of luck!

So... decided I needed something. Had 1/4 cup of chicken noodle Soup without and noodles, just broth. And was satisfied. Then had my meds, 1 tsp pain med, and 2 tsp of antibiotics. Those three teaspoons put me over the top. Now miserable

I was banded today too- we are twins!!!- and my doc told me 1-2 oz per hour for the first 24 hours then increase as tolerated to 4-6 ounces per hour. This has helped me I think. Not a speck of nausea yet

broth did make me especially burpy tonight tho... I know what you mean about the empty feeling. I'm hoping I just get used to it?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
