Pregnant And Not Removing Fill

Recommended Posts

I am 9 wks pregnant. I have chosen to NOT have Fluid removes from my band. I have had NO morning sickness and I've already gained 5 lbs. There is no legitimate reason for me to have my fluid removed. Bypass and/or sleeve patients can't "adjust" the size of their stomachs so I see no reason for me to adjust mine. My ob is supportive & we have agreed as long as baby is healthy & growing and I am able to eat and keep it down then fluid stays. If things change & I can not keep food down fluid will come out.

My cousin is 24 weeks and she has never had any Fluid removed during her pregnancy. She was on the looser end of the spectrum when she go pregnant and has no problem getting adequate nutrition. I wouldn't worry, if your ob has concerns he'll tell you. Pregnancy does not mean you need to double your calorie intake. Your eating for two but that second person is just a tiny little peanut!

Exactly! Eating for two just requires an extra 300 calories per day.....that's a yogurt and an apple :)

I may consider removing Fluid prior to delivery in case you have c-section or strain alot. I have a very close friend that had a major band slip due to a unexpected surgury and did not remove Fluid. Now she has to have the band replaced.

But if I were in your place, I would leave the fuild in till last month....best wishes for healthy baby and happy mommy!

I retained so much Water my band got super tight to where I could barely drink Water so I had to. As long as you can eat enough and eat healthily you do not need to

Im almost 23 weeks and have no intention in getting an unfill. Sometimes I feel tight in the morning and I really have to chew soft bread well but other then "common" band rules, I have no problems. I was told there is no reason to unfill if I dont need it. I was banded in Oct 2010 so my band was under the "new" technique of "tacking" it in place. They say there is less chance of slippage now. My thought is if its going to slip during delivery, it will whether its full or not. If your comfortable and healthy I say leave it. Having no morning sickness did play a part for me too in deciding not to unfill. Good luck.

As long as you can eat you're fine. I had gotten so tight due to bloating that I could barely drink Water so I had to have an unfill.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
