Hi all-

I've been scanning this site for a week or so now, just getting up the courage to post. I'm getting my band Wednesday morning (3/1). I'm excited and scared, just ready to get it over with.

I just wanted to send a quick post and thank all of you for sharing the good and the bad about your bands, it really helps those of us who are just starting out.

Jennifer

I'm so happy for you! You are going to do great, follow ALL the instructions your Doc gives you. I had mine done 2/3/06 and have lost 17.1# as of today. I'll be praying for you on Wens.

I'm looking at late April or early May for my banding, so please let me know how everything goes for you. God Bless and I'll be thinking about you and wishing you well on your new journey.

Hi,

Welcome to LBT. When I first came here I kept wondering and asking about abbreviations in conversations. To make it easier for yourself you might want to check out the “FAQ’s and Resources” Forum. There are a couple of threads about abbreviations which will help you understand what people are talking about. HTH (hope this helps!) and good luck to you.

I got my band yesterday morning. This was my first surgery, and it thankfully went well. I had surgery at 7:30am and was headed home by 11.

I'm still a little sore and don't have much of an appetite yet. I've had a little broth and have been trying to sip Water as much as I can. I've tried some grape juice and a sugar-free popsicle, but after just a few sips or bites, I start feeling a little queasy. I do NOT want to get sick, so I'm not pushing it.

Thanks for all the well-wishes and welcomes, it helps to know you're out there!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
