Post Op question

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I am scheduled for my "band-aide" on Friday and had a question about the post op diet. My instructions are for "Liquids", however on the instructions it shows to eat Malt o Meal, Jello, pudding etc. From ya'lls vast knowledge, was this hard to eat the first few days?

Thanks!

K

The maltomeal and pudding's are usually stuff recommended for the "soft" food phase. I could only tolerate liquids - broth, Water, tea, Jello for the first few days. as Jack said, ask if you can get a more comprehensive list that breaks out each phase.

Good luck with your banding!

I remember those first few days when everything I drank was from a medicine cup. The kind on top of a cough Syrup bottle. I was so happy when I could finally drink more than one of those full of water! heh

I would call your Dr's office first thing in the morning and verify exactly what they want you to do. When in doubt, call. Until then, play it safe and stick with clear liquids. Be kind to your newly placed band. Don't risk getting sick at this very tender stage of your recovery.

Grats on your band, and all the best for your weight loss journey!

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
