I understand what you're saying.....but for me, the lapband IS Magic, and it is not hard work at all. As a matter of fact, it is the EASIEST thing I have ever done i n terms of loosing weight and reaching my goal. It may have been hard in the early stages, bandster hell, but once that was out of the way it became very natural and automatic.

But do I believe everyone will be successful??? My answer is NO! Not Everyone!

And it is not because of the band, (except in a few medical cases) but because some individuals refuse to take that step and let the band do what it is designed to do. They want to hold onto their old habits, refusing to understand that is was these old habits that got them in trouble in the first place. They have been brain washed into believing you must "Diet" using your own will power and self discipline, the exact same thing I failed at time after time before I had the surgery.

Maybe some people feel it's "Too Good To Be True" and cannot possibly be that way, so they refuse to accept it.

I agree that people think it is a magic pill. As for one of the other posters, for me it has been magic, BUT, I also worked on changing my habits BEFORE surgery. It has been one of the easiest things to do. Yes there are moments, especially in the beginning that it is very hard, but that for me was psychological and it lasts a very short time. I could not be happier with my decision and have reached many goals of why I chose the lapband. I still have some to loose but it will have to wait until my miracle baby is born. 17 years waiting and after 1 year with the lap band.... SURPRISE!! Sorry off topic but hard work pays off significantly!!!

Mjv congrats on the baby!!! I heard that losing weight boosts fertility. Im not "trying" ti have a kid but when I start I don't want addiitonal obstacles holding us back! Congrats again!!!!

And I agree, the lapband isnt for everyone. I know several people who werent successful for several reasons - they kept the same old eating habits; they didnt follow up with their surgeon for fills and maintenance; they didnt exercise;

I am a newly banded individual but I think It will work for me. Im learning so much on these boards and from my doc, I have a team in place wanting to see me succeed.

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

      The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

        Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
