Happy Bandiversary To Me!!

Recommended Posts

Well, its been one year since my surgery and I feel great! I am not at goal yet, but only about 9 lbs to go. So that is not to bad...

I go into my one year appointment on the 25th and i was wondering what will happen at that appointment. I am hoping that he will do some kind of xray or something to check on how my band is doing in there. Is this typical for the year appointment? I am hoping that he will be pleased with my weight loss.

My year went by so fast. I lost most of the weight in the first 4 months or so and the last 6 months I have only lost about 24 lbs or so. I kinda go in streaks where I try and watch more of what I am eating to get down a couple of pounds here and there. But for the most part I just eat little meals all day long every three or four hours. I have not been very good about exercising in the past couple of months but I am very active all day long and get over 12,000 steps in just by running around everywhere. I am confident that I will eventually get rid of these last 9 pounds, but for the most part am not in to big of a rush to get there.

I am in a size 10, which is what my personal goal was to be in. Some are a little on the tight side, so I would like to lose a little more so that they fit a little better. I am so happy that I did this. Sometimes it seems surreal that just a year ago, I was 70 lbs heavier and felt so yucky. I can walk up the stairs now without my ankles and knees hurting (sometimes crawling up the stairs to get to bed at night). Its funny the different reactions that I get from people now. People actually acknowledge me instead of looking past me or thru me.

I wish everyone that is just starting out the best of luck and to stick with it and see where you can be in one years time. You may not be a your goal weight, but you will feel so much better with whatever you can take off, trust me. I felt better with each 10 lbs that came off. When I got to 200, I was like, I could stop here and be happy. At 190, I was like, ok, if I didnt lose anymore, I would be ok with that. At 180, I was like, this is it, I probably wont lose anymore, but I feel so good, that is ok. Now, at 169, I feel awesome, but now I know I can continue if I want to and I will more than likely lose more if I want to.

Thanks for everyone's support throughout the year. It is greatly appreciated!!!!

Congrats on your 1 year bandiversary! My surgeon just did what he had done every month. Nothing different, and since you are not at goal, I am guessing the same thing for you! Good luck, Karen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
