Hi, I am an RN in Delaware. I had my surgery on January 9th and I have lost 35 lbs. Very slowly is seems to me but my doctor thinks I am doing great. I currently have 6 cc in a 10 cc band and for now I think I am doing just fine with restriction, not too tight but definitely limits how much I can eat. Hope you have great success!

Hello, I am a medical assistant in nursing school. I was banded on 03/06/2012 and have to say it was one of the best decisions ever. Would do it again if I had the chance to do it over. Good luck.

How was it. Did you have a pre op diet? So many questions I guess I am just anxious. Congratulations on your success

I am a family nurse practitioner- I have my psych appt today and will hopefully get to see the surgeon soon and be banded sometime in May or June. We should start a group called "Obese Healthcare Providers Who Know Way Too Much" :)

When is the soonest you could have gone back to work? I have a desk job- not physicaly demanding at all, but I have to go back as soon as I possibly can.

I waited two weeks. Could have gone back at one week but no way sooner. Sitting for long periods really irritated my port site also

Hi I am a LVN in So California !! Newbie banded on 4/6/12 .Funny I just mentioned starting a thread for nurses but didn't think I would stay committed to moderate it.it's interesting that we know so much that we can actually sabotage ourselves.and that we have all had to teach patients/ family about proper diet and exercise but at least for me wasn't able to follow my own teaching .. I'm also on My fitness Pal my username is the same biggenuff. Please feel free to add me .Good luck everyone !!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
