Found A Way To Drink The Protein Shake!

Recommended Posts

I have these huge canisters of Protein powder that are disgusting to me and tend to kill my stomach. I'd tried mixing them with regular skim milk, 2% milk, goat milk, coconut milk, almond milk, Water... and it never worked. I got a juicer for my birthday and needed to go on liquids as my allergies were making me swell. DREAM IDEA: Vegetable juice for the Protein Drink!!!!!

So, I can no drink the Protein shake, and it seems there's enough of a barrier that it doesn't care my digestive system either. The taste and fake sugar are also masked enough that I don't want to gag or drink too quickly. The brand that I can't handle is Bariatric fusion.

I have what I would like to call "blood juice"

I juice the following:

4 carrots medium/small carrots

1 small beet root or a piece of a large one

2 cups of greens (spinach works best)

half a thumb of ginger root

I juice all of that, throw it in a blender cup with the giant scoop of ick. shake it... and it looks like blood and is totally drinkable. I couldn't bring myself to throw away the powder, given the price... and now it looks like it can be a liquid diet food. This is what I'd like to call a win.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
